Gerrard is one of the least vocal captains you will ever come across lol. As lomng as the captain leads by example on the pitch its fine. Especially on the international stage as most players dont need that much instruction. All of them should be pretty experienced already |

Would agree with most of that, although I wouldn't think it a bad decision if Hart got it. I think the temperament comment about Rooney is a bit of a general cop out, not you personally, but generally not thought through. I would consider him as a temporary solution with the idea of making him long term, however if it doesn't work, until at least either Jones or Wilshire are ready. We have to bear in mind that England like any international are a cup team. We need our most influential players to be affecting the game and be the type of individual who can affect a team or provide (for want of a better word) that bit of passion/commitment to be able to turn a match in a KNOCKOUT situation. For that reason I always wanted Gerrard ahead of Terry. That option has passed. Also, it's not like we're talking about a club cup competition for a period of months, you need a captain and player on form for a concentrated period of time over a period of a month. I think the nature of the role of a captain for country versus club needs to be taken into account. |

Sort of see where you're coming from on Rooney but he is currently serving a ban for kicking a player off the ball and if he was already Captain we'd be asking if he should still be. Perhaps being captain would help his grow up a bit, but would be a risk especially when we might need a cool head to calm fractious games down. If you gave it to Joe Hart it might not be up for grabs for years. Joe is only 24 and still improving as a player, it would be hard to justify taking it off him when people thought he'd kept the seat warm long enough for Jones or Wilshire to step in. Short term i'd go with Gerrard (for the Euro's) but not sure where i'd go after that tbh. |
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro

i think the best way to go from here is to just name the captain when the team is made! saves all the pressure and hype surrounding the captaincy so players can just concentrate on playing the damn game! |

Uwes, no I wouldn't think to take it off Hart. That comment was meant for Rooney. If you give it to Hart he should keep it. I actually think he's a strong enough character not to let that affect his own performance tbh. |

IMO its got to be someone who is guaranteed to start at the world cup. Hart, A.Cole, Terry and Parker are the only ones at the moment |

Hmm not sure about Parker Jeffers. Why didn't you include Barry, you don't think he'll go with him? Can't see Cashley as captain material tbh. |

Parker will play IMO Captains Spurs and has played very well for England. He is the only midfielder who starts every week for his club Barry may get some competition from Carrick with Gerrard/Lampard(though would rather Cleaverly) off Bent/Rooney I don't think Cole is a good choice either, I was just listing the players id expect to start |

The thing with Capello is he rarely gets influenced by club form and puts greater emphasis on how they perform for England. I doubt Parker would have done much to impress him in his last performance for England. He also has his favourites and I think Barry remains one of those. Carrick won't get a look in mate imo (partly for same reasons mentioned above) |

The way Carrick is playing he would fit in perfectly to the system. We will most likely see Parker and Barry in CM, though I can see Capelllo fagging about with Gerrard and Lampard in midfield because its worked so well in the past |

i think gerrard for the short term, but i also agree if rooney can control himself he would make a good captain,he certainly gives 100%,which is what a captain should do,and being captain might actually mature him.
