Why shouldn't it be analysed just because it's a cup final? Fundamental things were done wrong e.g. CM tracking runs, every game is a learning experience and just dismissing it because of the occasion is sweeping things under the carpet. Play the game not the occassion.

I think some people are being a little unfair because i'd have been happy as a pig in s**t if City won the CC, any trophy tbh. Domestically its like winning a bronze medal.

Some Liverpool fans are getting a little delirious about the win though too. Talk of this attracting Cavani, Hazard, Lavezzi etc when you lie in 7th 4pts off 6th with poor league form is a little premature.
Until you get back into the top 4 these players are not realistic imo. Keeping Suarez let alone adding to him should be the priority.

Good win, Good trophy but as far as the trophies significance is concerned a bit of perspective is needed.
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro :thumb:

I just don't think it would be. I dont mean to say just sweep it under the carpet, just one of those games, oh well we will let you off the hook this time, thats not what i mean.

I think the players would have learned a lesson by this game as well, for a fair few of them this was their first cup final in a packed out Wembley, that would have been valuable experience for them. Also never to under estimate the opposition as well whoever they are.

I don't think there were tons of glaring errors, although i think that the one thing Kenny would have learned was that Gerrard Adam partnership is something that wouldn't work long term and also a failure of converting chances, but thats a problem that's existed all season, and not just from this game :D

totally agree about the whole this is going to attract the big names, it isn't.

I think we can be happy though, first trophy in 6 years, and if we are able to use this as a stepping stone that brings us further glory, whether that be FA Cup, guaranteeing CL football, or whatever, then brilliant for us.

If we just rest on our laurel's though after winning this minor cup and not win anything else for some time then we need a good kicking up the backside.

That's fair enough. A cup final tells you so much more abou the players than an average league game, like who will hide etc etc. Blatantly obvious that Adam will withdraw up his own arse at the first sign of pressure.

I'd add Henderson to that list as well... although maybe to his defence he was deployed on the right hand side rather then in the middle which i think was a massive error.

True, he's not entirely to blame. He'll never be a right winger.

Spot on, enjoy the moment and improve on it.

The last two to comment were me and Uwe who said it was a trophy worth winning but basically agreed that it isn't necessarily going to be a "stepping stone to larger things". Not exactly a radical viewpoint there.

Plus regardless of which of the two teams we support get the League/Europa im willing to bet people would prefer 1st/2nd in the league rather than 7th and the CC. A little perspective here. This win is good for Liverpool, any team would want it, but fans of the current top two teams still wouldn't want to exchange places with you.

Yes but we already had the foundations of a very strong team
You should have just stopped typing your post right there because so do we.
We had Rooney and Ronaldo for the positions you've got Downing and Carroll. Don't even try and compare them ffs

Berbatov only joined us in 2008

Park and Bellamy is a fair enough comparison considering they're second choice

I was just trying to think who your other strikers are/were

The point I was making is that you picked your two best players form that era and 2 of our new signings who haven't settled. If you want to pick your own best striker, why not pick ours? If you want to pick your own best winger, why not pick ours?

Just pointing out your BIAST ( :champion: ) selection :D
