I don't understand that. If I was a Utd fan and I'd witnessed that. Regardless of what my opinion is on the EL I'd be furious at the tactics and lack of concentration. Does it not bother you Fergie got it wrong again?
I am still never quite prepared for just how shite our midfield is until the first 5 mins of the next match. Then all those feelings of wanting to kill the closest person to me with a claw hammer come flooding back. Hand on heart I wanted them to score more because I think there's NOTHING else that will convince Fergie we aren't good enough to compete with the best teams. Beating s**t in the prem seems to make him think theres nothing wrong...or that "we can manage". Well we forking can't and losses like tonight coupled with those against Ajax and the p*** poor performance in the CL must be ringing alarm bells by now...I hope!
Well seeing Scholes has signed on for another year I'd assume he believes it's still going swimmingly. I know the feeling of hoping a defeat enlightens someone but I'm genuinely interested to see if finances are an issue. I think back to the times you've strengthened your squad and the majority of the time it wasn''t to replace it was to support. But assessing your midfield it's come to the point where it is most definitely replace.
Yeh the finance thing is def a question here, but when he's spending £18m on Ashley Young (and doubling his wages from Villa) you have to wonder. We've spent money which could have been used to buy quality in much needed areas, not trying to corner the world market on wingers!

Our midfield was pretty shot in 2005 as well. Scholes had that eye injury and Keano's best days were well and truly over. Quinten fortune and sticking Alan Smth in midfield seemed to be the future after the disaster that was Djemba Djemba and the brazilian WC m/f whose name I forget. Anyway, he soon realised we couldn't compete with Chelsea and we got knocked out the CL in group stages. This is what gives me hope that he will take drastic action again. Not convinced though.
He keeps springing the same line. "There's no value in the market"

No offence but your scouts are s**t lol and I'm not letting you get away with that one treb. Kleberson :champion:

It's a wonder an absolute wonder Utd are so damn competitive. He's had alot of critics this year but moments of pure class have come from Ryan Giggs. It's as if Fergie wants to bleed the quality dry out of Scholes, Giggs and Carrick before a drastic change is made.
Not only would fresh legs in midfield have provided extra competition but it could've taken Utd that step closer to changing their emphasis in terms of a pressing game.

I lol'd when Utd signed Young and if they go another summer without a new CM I'd say time will catch up on that randy bastard Giggs and we'd be witnessing Rooney in CM after another injury ravaged season
Monu I agree with all of that including the scouts. As for Ashley Young, it could have been worse. I genuinely thought he'd bought him as an option to play in m/f after his last season at Villa. Thank fork that hasn't happened...yet <_<

Yeh it's like he thinks we're AC Milan ffs!

It has been the same in every signle European game this season and I have moaned about it constantly. Comes a point where you know what to expect and just don't give a s**t anymore.

You say it could've been worse but I look at Young's overall style of play and impact he has on Utd and barring a few wonder strikes he's very different to the rest. He hasn't adapted his style of play so in a sense I believe he's a bit of hinderance to Utd. I certainly wouldn't look to him like I do if Valencia or Nani have the ball at their feet.

Ashley Young in AM would make me so happy.

Yes I'd agree which is why I've lost some passion for football as I've taken a bigger interest in boxing. Sometimes I think why should I let the results effect me emotionally but my point for woody was I'd never celebrate a possible cup exit no matter the circumstances.

Ashley Young anywhere in and around the 16 yard box in quick interplay (or the wonder strike) is good. Ashley Young on the wing, passing his way up from midfield has not been effective. Nani on the other hand is the opposite, great working the ball up to the 16 yard box, but forks up when he gets there  Valencia, overall is good at getting the ball or himself into the box, but since his injury hasn't been consistent (seems a bit less courageous???) Combined they all get the job done somehow lol.

The more I think about it, the more I see how Rooney keeps Utd alive. His deep play and short passing at times rescues the midfield. Yes sometimes he is too hollywood and makes the wrong pass but he is why players like Nani and Valencia can get the ball early to make moves towards the box. When he does that for Young he tends to deliver too early or play a one two. Interesting to see how Utd overcome this.

Bilbao were forking immense tonight. Superb. Best European performance at OT since Milan in 07 and I'm struggling to think of many better.

Pogba again in the squad, must have agreed a new contract?

I'm going for a 2-0 United win, similar professional performance to the one against Ajax away from home
