That's interesting point about the space in front of Chelsea at the Nou Camp. This may sound bizarre, but imo Barca will find it easier to deal with Chelsea's possession in the wider spaces. I feel that on the smaller, crowded Stamford Bridge pitch it was harder for Barca to close down in numbers, it affected the way they usually cover all bases and their passing game. As a result a loose ball ends up finding a way out. At the nou camp, you'll see the space afforded to Barca players to hunt in packs without being crowded out. This helps them become more organised and I don't see the opportunities as much for Chelsea as I expect the Barca midfield to take much more control across the line, allowing the back 4 to cover the lone chelsea striker and the odd chelsea winger breaking forward. Having said that, at any given moment, I do think Chelsea are more than capable of getting that away goal. Yep Legend, which is why I think tonight's result has actually been good for the tie. |

Boring Boring Chelsea

Much has been made on these pages and other media about how the second leg at the Camp Nou will be so much different due to the size of their pitch and how this will allow Barca to play their natural, passing game to a much greater degree than Chelsea allowed them to in the first leg. Then I read this: Camp Nou pitch: 115 x 74 yards Stamford Bridge pitch: 112.6 x 73.3 yards. So, the Nou Camp pitch is around 78 inches longer and around 8 inches wider! Notwithstanding the inevitable comments about size matters and extra inches etc, it does make you wonder why this urban myth gets rolled out so often. We may well get spanked on Tuesday, but if we do, it won't be because of their mythical huge pitch. |
