Martin O'Neill and Roy Keane could be confirmed as the new Republic of Ireland coaching team by Saturday, says the Football Association of Ireland.

Potential to be a disaster but if they pick the best players, play them in their actual positions and attempt to play football, I'll be happy.

Without ever taking a training session I'm happy because of the following

1) Press conferences with the actual manager, not an interpreter
2) Knowledge of players
3) Knowing where they play
4) Knowing what positions they play
5) Ends the laissez-faire attitude of the inner circle of players under the last regime

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has hinted that he may opt for a new central defensive partnership in Wednesday's friendly against Serbia.

O'Neill suggested on Tuesday that he might leave defender John O'Shea, who has 93 caps, on the bench for the game.

"We have a couple of players who I've a fair idea about and John would be one of those," said O'Neill.

If O'Shea is left out, Derby County defender Richard Keogh could partner Stoke's Marc Wilson in central defence.

Keogh has not played for the Irish since scoring when winning his second cap against Georgia last June.
