Well done FIFA and OC for giving two huge back to back events to Rio. Brazil won't be ready for either one. |

It's certainly going to be a struggle. WC then the Olympics 2 years later unprecedented decion that still baffles me. Just hope that both events can go off without any incidents of this nature. |

The metros are not finished, neither are the airports. I think 3 out of 12 stadiums have been finished only. Complete mess. |

It's something that almost needs 10 years of prep work for. Especially in this case where they've got to make the infrastructure remain state of the art for 2 years. |

Countries should meet a basic infrastructure requirement to qualify for these things, be it transport, or a minimum amount of x sized stadiums. |

Couldn't agree more. There has to be a reasonable base level of infrastructure like decent airports, rail, road networks, etc for a country to host a World Cup. Some places spend pots of money on new stadiums and they end up as white elephants sitting there doing sweet sod all after the tournament. That's why a place like the US would have been perfect for 2022, they've got all the NFL and College football stadiums that fit into FIFA usage policy (4 weeks before and after the tournament??) during the World Cup period and so many of them have been built or renovated in the last 10-15 years and have more than adequate capacity. |
