Manchester City will have an eighth successive win in the Premier League in their sights when they take on Tottenham.

Manuel Pellegrini's side are unbeaten in 19 games across all competitions, with Southampton and Blackburn Rovers the only teams to avoid defeat to the quadruple-chasing outfit in that time.

City have recently sailed past 100 goals for the season, and Spurs fans will not want to be reminded of their side's humiliating 6-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the current campaign.

Much has changed at Spurs since their collapse in east Manchester in late November, with new manager Tim Sherwood shoring things up to the extent that the north London club are in fifth place on the back of a six-game unbeaten run.

City have been in imperious form, and they had the firepower to overcome a two-goal deficit at home to Watford in the FA Cup last Saturday.

But it was a performance that displeased Pellegrini, and the Chilean looks set to name his strongest side 24 hours after fellow contenders Arsenal drew at Southampton to open up the prospect of City going top of the table.

Sergio Aguero's hat-trick against Watford showed the Argentine is back to full fitness, and he is likely to line up alongside the in-form Alvaro Negredo up front.

Former City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has found a new lease of life under Sherwood, scoring six goals, including two in Spurs' last outing, the 3-1 win at Swansea.

City's last visit to the Lane ended in a 3-1 defeat, but none of Spurs' scorers in last April's meeting - Clint Dempsey, Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale - will feature with the trio having left the club since.

Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela will miss Tottenham's Premier League clash with Manchester City at White Hart Lane.

Head coach Tim Sherwood said neither midfielder is ready to return, but he admitted he expects England international Townsend to be a week away from full fitness after hamstring trouble.

Jan Vertonghen, Younes Kaboul and Sandro are back in training but remain doubts.

Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo (shoulder) is back in contention for the Premier League trip to Tottenham.

Playmaker David Silva is also available after being rested last weekend as a precaution because of a minor hamstring issue.

Midfielders James Milner (groin) and Javi Garcia are ruled out but not expected to be sidelined long, while Samir Nasri (knee) remains a long-term casualty.

Opta facts

~ Tottenham have won seven and lost just one of their last 10 Barclays Premier League home games against Man City.
~ Sergio Aguero has scored 13 goals in his last 12 Barclays Premier League apps and has four in four against Spurs.
~ 19 different Spurs players have been shown a yellow card this season, more than any other club in the top flight.

Our Spanish striker has first-hand experience of playing alongside and against compatriots Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas and David Silva thanks to his time in La Liga with Valencia.
And although Negredo has been sidelined of late, our 28-year-old front man is looking forward to facing up to some of his fellow countrymen at the Lane this evening.
“Negredo is in a great part of his career now, banging in lots and lots of goals,” Roberto said. “If he doesn’t play tonight then that’s better for us! But seriously though, it’ll be lovely to see him and if he does play it’s going to be a really, really hard game.”
Roberto went on to explain how he and the rest of the lads are eager to register a victory over City, in a bid to cloud the memory of the heavy defeat we suffered at the Etihad earlier in the season.
“None of us in the changing room have forgotten the defeat up at Manchester City before, so we are completely focussed to win,” the 28-year-old added. “It’s going to be a very hard game but we’ll give it a good go.
“I think the main thing is to win the game tonight, however we win it. The amount of goals they’re scoring is incredible, especially at home at the moment, so we’ll try and obviously get as many goals as we can to win the game.”

Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo are fit for Manchester City's trip to Tottenham on Wednesday. The City chief revealed the news at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon as his side travel to White Hart Lane now knowing a win will put them top of the Premier League after Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw at Southampton on Tuesday. Aguero, who had been sidelined for over a month since suffering a calf injury in the 6-3 defeat of Arsenal on December 14, came through the full 90 minutes of Saturday's 4-2 FA Cup fourth-round win against Watford and grabbed a second-half hat-trick in the process. The Argentinian striker had featured in the previous three matches as he built up his fitness levels. And he now looks set to stay in Pellegrini's starting XI alongside Negredo who missed the Hornets game with a shoulder problem picked up in the 3-0 Capital One Cup semi-final, second-leg win at West Ham last week. Samir Nasri has started his comeback from a medial knee ligament problem but remains sidelined for the Spurs game. Pellegrini also revealed that James Milner and Javi Garcia will miss the trip to north London but they should return next week as their respective injury problems are "not very serious". Pellegrini must decide whether to hand a start to Stevan Jovetic or continue with Jesus Navas, while Gael Clichy is looking to get the nod over Aleksandar Kolarov at left-back.

Playmaker David Silva is also back in contention after being rested due to a hamstring issue and Pellegrini confirmed that the player will also travel. Midfielders James Milner and Javi Garcia are ruled out due to knocks but neither should keep them out long..

I'd be happy with a draw, no injuries and a full squad available for Monday night tbh.
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro :thumb:

I somehow don't think WTF quite covers my thoughts on this post! Not one forking mention of buying me a drink first you sick forker <_<

Quadruple will never happen, by any team so not sure why they keep saying it. You would need 20 seasons luck in one year and then it would a long shot.
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro :thumb:
