Manchester City will have an eighth successive win in the Premier League in their sights when they take on Tottenham. Manuel Pellegrini's side are unbeaten in 19 games across all competitions, with Southampton and Blackburn Rovers the only teams to avoid defeat to the quadruple-chasing outfit in that time. City have recently sailed past 100 goals for the season, and Spurs fans will not want to be reminded of their side's humiliating 6-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the current campaign. Much has changed at Spurs since their collapse in east Manchester in late November, with new manager Tim Sherwood shoring things up to the extent that the north London club are in fifth place on the back of a six-game unbeaten run. City have been in imperious form, and they had the firepower to overcome a two-goal deficit at home to Watford in the FA Cup last Saturday. But it was a performance that displeased Pellegrini, and the Chilean looks set to name his strongest side 24 hours after fellow contenders Arsenal drew at Southampton to open up the prospect of City going top of the table. Sergio Aguero's hat-trick against Watford showed the Argentine is back to full fitness, and he is likely to line up alongside the in-form Alvaro Negredo up front. Former City striker Emmanuel Adebayor has found a new lease of life under Sherwood, scoring six goals, including two in Spurs' last outing, the 3-1 win at Swansea. City's last visit to the Lane ended in a 3-1 defeat, but none of Spurs' scorers in last April's meeting - Clint Dempsey, Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale - will feature with the trio having left the club since. Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela will miss Tottenham's Premier League clash with Manchester City at White Hart Lane. Head coach Tim Sherwood said neither midfielder is ready to return, but he admitted he expects England international Townsend to be a week away from full fitness after hamstring trouble. Jan Vertonghen, Younes Kaboul and Sandro are back in training but remain doubts. Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo (shoulder) is back in contention for the Premier League trip to Tottenham. Playmaker David Silva is also available after being rested last weekend as a precaution because of a minor hamstring issue. Midfielders James Milner (groin) and Javi Garcia are ruled out but not expected to be sidelined long, while Samir Nasri (knee) remains a long-term casualty. Opta facts ~ Tottenham have won seven and lost just one of their last 10 Barclays Premier League home games against Man City. ~ Sergio Aguero has scored 13 goals in his last 12 Barclays Premier League apps and has four in four against Spurs. ~ 19 different Spurs players have been shown a yellow card this season, more than any other club in the top flight. I'd be happy with a draw, no injuries and a full squad available for Monday night tbh. |
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro

I somehow don't think WTF quite covers my thoughts on this post! Not one forking mention of buying me a drink first you sick forker Quadruple will never happen, by any team so not sure why they keep saying it. You would need 20 seasons luck in one year and then it would a long shot. |
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro
