GOAT.
LFC is such a hater  Drops their 2x player of the year and becomes a much better side. People can't understand why Mourinho let him go? Surely they can after last night.

Mourinho is a master at mind games, just like Fergie was. He's been getting at Pellegrini all week and last night it showed
Are you serious Cech? How do you come to the conclusion Mourinhos 'mind games' got to Pellegrini? When and where did he react to Jose?
Have you seriously worked out that because Chelsea won so did Jose's efforts at mind games did too?

Best 11 won on the night and Jose's tactics were spot on but that was nothing to do with mind games mate. Nothing more.

Not sure if I'm missing something regarding mind games but I've always believed its a lot of whats not said but simply implied that makes them games. What Jose does is rabbit on about rubbish at will and surrounds himself with people who just can't wait to lap it up

Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro :thumb:

Not really. What about Jovetic? Or moving Kompany into midfield where he has played before
Or even Milner in CM with Yaya.

Boring Boring Chelsea
It's interesting how you see a game or individual performance totally differently when you're not influenced by public opinion or the masses. It seems that most people on here think Toure had a stinker, but I can assure you that I was nervous every time he got on the ball and was running at our defence. The man is a monster and the commentary at the time of Matic stealing the ball of him in the middle of the park is testament to how others view his power. It wasn't his best game, I'll agree with that, but the criticism of him on this thread made me think I must have been watching a different game.

Chelsea did everything right in this game. The amount of space that they were able to exploit was largely down to the way the team was set up. Ivanovic had acres of space on so many occasions and it was down to them knowing that Kolorov pushes up whilst getting no protection from Silva when he does so. It's rare in any game to see one single player get much space, so many times.

Luiz and Matic were superb and I would love to see them as our first choice pairing in the deeper MF positions for the rest of the season.

Hazard is arguably the best player in the league right now. I know that a few Liverpool fans might disagree with that, but he's been in amazing form in just about every game he has played in since around November. For a 5'6" player, it's incredible how difficult opponents find it trying to muscle him off the ball. His speed whilst on the ball is also quite incredible.

I think our defence is also being overlooked at the moment. That was our eighth clean sheet in ten games and the two games we conceded in were both at home.

All of that said, I don't think City played particularly poorly; I just think that Chelsea out thought them. I know that some people won't like to give Jose credit for that, but if you remove the personal point scoring and agendas, I don't think you could suggest any other opinion.

Last night was only one game and it was only worth three points. City are still the best team in the league, so I don't think I'm being overly coy in saying that City will still win the league. We've now played both Manc clubs twice, Arsenal and Spurs away and Liverpool at home. The funny thing is, it's the so called smaller teams that we've dropped points against, whilst remaining unbeaten against all the bigger teams.

Oh, and it was a thoroughly entertaining game too.

Trying to get an accurate picture of reality, even when that's unpleasant or inconvenient!

So the winking begins

After over half of the season and fat Sam outclassing him

Bet so many could not wait Lol

All he did was use the same tactics Rodgers did but had better players so he won

By and large he did play the same strategy as Liverpool did but little details pushed it to another level.

E.g. altering Ivanovic's position, the Ivan-Luiz tandem, putting Willian in the center etc.
That's true dot but it's because he had the personal to do these little things, the next level is with more talented players than Liverpool have thus allowing them to do different roles

Don't get me wrong, Jose did well but it's sickening at how people get carried away lol

That's like looking at Barcelona and saying Pep did the same thing as Wenger but with far better players.

I have to agree with those saying that there is a dumbing down of Mourhino on here with very little rational argument behind it. Comparing him to Rodgers...at any level is funny as fork.

VK would be class as a DM, but the defence doesnt look good without him. against the top side it would be suicide to move him

Jovetic isnt fully fit yet

apparently Milner wasnt fully fit, which is stupid as i believe if you are fit enough for the bench you should be fit enough to start

so with all the gazzilions spent, MDM was our only midfield option <_<

should have recalled Barry
