2 - Chelsea only had two shots against Manchester City today; both were from outside the area and both were off target. Failure?

Great result and totally deserved.

Every City player was better than his counterpart today. Very comfortable all round performance.

Yaya was again pushing his luck and not sure why he get's so wound up. Jovetic was superb too but his dive was pathetic. Great to have Nasri back. He didn't do too much bar the goal but adds so much to a full midfield.

Tactically we were on it and gave Chelsea no time to turn and run. Excellent game.
Will be keeping Cech in my pocket for the next 3 months. Thanks Pedro :thumb:

I am Pads, and before this season I never thought he'd ever be such an important player for us. He was always a luxury but now competes for 90 minutes.
His goal today was pretty decent too.

I know this goes against everything I've ever said about the guy but Javi Garcia was very good today too! Switched on and didn't really put a foot wrong that I can remember.

He usually has a habbit of losing the ball when it seemed more difficult to get it wrong and giving freekicks away on the edge of the area. Slow, awkward & pointless.

But none of that today, his best game for City by a mile.

Back to normal soon though I bet.

Unlucky for him that he won't be coming up against Mikel every week

Congrats on the win, you were better than us all over and deserved it

Agree, but then we'd usually have the far superior Fernandinho available too ;)

Javi and Mikel can discuss the game from the bench :)

The result was a much bigger one for us than Chelsea today. If we'd lost the confidence would have been shot.

I agree with Uwe. We were second best in every area and City thoroughly deserved their win.

We needed it Frank, in much the same way Chelsea did in the league. If you'd lost to us your championship chances would have been virtually over.
If we'd lost to Chelsea twice in 15 days and 3 times in all this season it would have dented confidence imo. This win was bigger than going through to the next round.

Possibly, although even after our league win last week, I still had City as favourites for the league. I must admit, your draw at Norwich in the next game did get me thinking that maybe Chelsea could do it though!

Your point is probably valid of Arsenal and Liverpool too. Arsenal really need to win this, because if Liverpool get one over them again - this time in their own back yard, then Liverpool will get plenty of confidence that they can overtake them in the league too.
