It all depends on how Woy wants them to play. If he does his usual stand off s**t then Hendo isn't the man. He's a quality player in the right system but Woy won't want a high intensity press for 90 minutes and if you take that away then you also take away one of Hendo's greatest attributes.

I think Wilshere and Studdy could play quite well together if Wilshere was given enough attacking freedom but then you have Rooney to fit into it too and I can't see that working well. It'll end up being the same s**t it is every year where a plank of a manager tries to find a way of fitting all of the "best" players into the same team instead of picking a formation and tactics that will work and selecting the right players to play it.

Huddlestone should be in and around the team ahead of Gerrard, much better passer of the ball and miles younger.

England boss Roy Hodgson has defended Tom Cleverley after an online petition was set up calling for the Manchester United midfielder to be banned from selection for his World Cup squad.

The petition, which accuses Cleverley of "inept" displays, has gained over 10,000 signatures since it was posted.

Interesting isn't it?

We cannot agree on a team. In many years gone by the team has pretty much picked itself.

Papa is right England managers have struggled for too long trying to fit the best players into the team, e.g. Lampard and Gerrard, both great players but not suited to being in the same CM. In fact originally Scholes was also picked but played on left, so it was 3 AM's taking up 4 MF positions.

For the record I believe Welbeck does deserve a place in the squad, things happen when he is on the pitch. Not necessarily a starter but a great option to have from the bench.

This WC is different from the ones before, this time everyone recognises we have no chance, we are not going in there with delusions. I would keep and play captain Gerrard but the rest of the squad I would look more heavily at the future than the past. So I wouldn't take Lampard or Cole or Defoe (I might take Carrick but only as cover for Gerrard) after that the squad needs loading with those who will play for the next 5 years, not a last hurrah for the fading golden generation.

We don't play for ages though so at least they'll have some practice before Utd.

Oxlade in for Wilshire and that's the team I'd have picked.
