England Squad for the World Cup; Who's in your 23?

Okay the last friendly has been played before Woy names his initial 30 for the WC, then he gets a couple of games before that has to become his final 23. So who do you choose?

Established wisdom for a squad of 23 is 2 in every position with 3 GK's as insurance for this specialised position.

So 3 GK's (unless you want to change with tradition)

But then is it 7 or 8 defenders (3 or 4 CB's)?

8 or 9 MF's?

4 or 5 STR's?

Do we have any consensus yet?

Stuck up bastard
Ruddy, Hart, Foster

Walker, Johnson, Baines, Cole, Cahill, Jagielka, Caulker, Davies

Sterling, Chamberlain, Gerrard, Henderson, Carrick, Lalana, Wilshere, Barkley

Lambert, Sturridge, Rooney, Rodriguez.

RB and CB are seriously lacking.

Smalling

Gerrard
Wilshere

Maybe drop Butland for Barry, incase Gerrard gets injured and they want a more assured DM than the other options.

Jones has the versatility to play at the back and midfield, so I'd take 3 centre backs, Jagielka, Cahill and Smalling. Full backs pick themselves. I reckon he will go with Cole over Shaw, I wouldn't trust Shaw at all defensively, and tbf all England will be doing in the first two games is defending

Hart
Walker Jagielka Cahill Baines
Gerrard Wilshire
Sterling Rooney OX
Sturridge

Forster
Flanagan Jones Caulker Shaw
Hendo Carrick
Townsend** Barkley Lallana
Carroll*

Butland

**Adam Johnson
*Lambert

Walcott will be a big miss

I think after this world cup all players 30+ should be out of contention for the squad. England have quite a few options in every position except maybe DM.

If Wilshire is out injured then bring Barry into the first team. The team will be far more solid

I know Barry is having a good season but do you recall last WC when Ozil ran past him and it looked like he was running in treacle?

Not Barry for me. Wilshire's most natural replacement would be Barkley

If I was putting asterisks in as well I would have Carroll as a possibility for Lambert. having one of them in the squad allows for a change of game plan if things aren't working. I opted for Lambert because I was picking the squad based on now, but if by the end of the season Carroll is back to his best then that would be a dilemma.

I am not sure Walcott is automatically in the squad even when fit. Definitely a consideration but not a shoo in.

I would prefer Walcott above anyone if he's fit. Just seems regardless of how he's doing for club, he near enough always performs for England.

I personally think Wilshire and Gerrard is just Gerrard and Lampard all over again. But I'm expecting the 2 of them to play and in that formation it has everyone playing in the club position

Rooney Sturridge Walcott

would be a ridiculous front 3, if you could get Rooney to play wide left

Apparently Roy's final place in the squad is either Carrick or Barkley. Carrick has been gash this season, I wonder if he is seeing Barkley has a CM though? :S
