Only a winner for Italy with a Joe Hart royal fork up would make it any better.

England XI: Hart - Johnson, Cahill, Jagielka, Baines - Gerrard, Henderson - Sterling, Rooney, Welbeck - Sturridge.

Sterling behind the striker apparently. Weird set up :S

Has he ever played off one striker at senior level before? :S

He's being set up for a massive fall the last few days IMO, can't remember there ever being such calls for a player to start a match before.

Couldn't possibly happen, only Welbeck misses chances.

Yeah but with Sturridge or Suarez wide which is still basically 2 up top. Suppose it's no different with Rooney there

Very much agree on the set up for a fail though. I think it's going to be very hard for him with 3 strikers around him. Lallana should have started over Welbeck for me.

I am waiting for Sterling to have his 'Owen Argentina' moment though, maybe it'll be tonight.

I wonder will Henderson be disciplined enough as well. With the players out there he can't go making his late surges forward that he's so good at.

Not you as well. Welbeck regularly does well for England and deserves his spot.

Sterling has only played at the tip of the diamond, not in a formation like this one. Could still be a diamond formation with that set up with Welbeck and Henderson playing the wide central roles.

Welbeck is englands kuyt I guess

Such a stupid mentality some mangers have, put in someone with quality yo hurt teams ffs seriously Danny brings nothing, he may score the odd tap-ins when he is running like a donkey all night

Lallana or Barkley should be ahead of him

England only have one threat from midfield now in the final third
