Hodgson confirms Gary Lewin going home with dislocated ankle. "He jumped up celebrating the goal and landed on a water bottle."

Think it was a positive performance from England tbh. Few issues to iron out but overall it was 100x better than the last Italy England game

For me it comes down to, Rooney or Welbeck. Welbeck played better tonight, but a half arsed Rooney set one up and almost done the keeper with some quick thinking.

Prandelli complimentary about England who "no longer just play long balls" + "They have one of the greatest attacks".

BBC: "Wayne Rooney's assist for Daniel Sturridge was the first time he has contributed to a goal in the World Cup (in his ninth appearance)"

Not read the thread so not sure what you all think

I thought it was positive, could have easily got a good result. For me we were the better team.

Sterling was great, I thought he banged that in to the roof of the net in the first five mins

Pirlo was so forking hollywood in that first half and then he turned on the style in the second.

Really impressed by Candreva. He was a menace.

Gerrard was very quiet and both Johnson and Baines were completely useless. The team shape isn't there for England. It's all too clustered centrally. Welbeck deserves his spot in the team. He'd just come back from injury so it was completely understandable to see a decline in his work rate in the second half.

Some very confusing subs from Hodgson. Barkley and Wilshere were given free roles and they were lost in the midfield. That's not how you chase a game.

Raheem is developing into quite the technician. I thought he'd be a Pedro but he plays more like Iniesta.
