It's harsh to judge Liverpool without Sturridge but it is a bit concerning for you lot that everything relies so heavily on him being back. I'm seeing the same thing on here every game: 'We need Studdy back'.

You need Balotelli to come good too. He seems to be getting praise for work rate without doing what he's supposed to actually be doing.
Work rate is the absolute minimum. It's expected of you. Why we're indulging him and praising a bit of work I'll never know. Makes me sick going from Suarez to him
I think it's mainly down to the fact that we weren't really expecting the workrate

We were, however, expecting some quality in and around the box. That has been sorely lacking. And I've very concerned about his lack of link up with any of the other players. The number of times he collects the ball right next to another player in midfield or the wing is ridiculous. There needs to be some communication and fluidity to positioning. He is far too maverick. His best play was in his first game when he played with Studdy. I am still hopeful that they will dovetail together well.

We need to sort out the defending and get rid of man marking. Get some energy and control to the midfield. And to get some composure in the final third.

I agree, it just seems to be all people have to say about him at the moment. He scored loads when he first went back to Milan apparently, he needs to add that to his game again.
He's bang average from open play. Would gladly see the back of him in January tbh......well would've liked to see the back of him on 21st of August...

He scored 6 from open play last season. He's pure hype. He'll bang in one of those long shots he keeps taking and everyone will wink him off again

Does anybody actually know why Milan were so desperate to get rid of him?

Playing 4-3-3 & he doesn't fit that system

Plus off the wage bill & they have SES, Niang, Pazzini who can play there when Torres is missing

"They both arrived at 23 and Danny Welbeck has got going a lot quicker than Thierry Henry did. Whether he goes on to emulate what Thierry did is another matter.

I'm just finding it hilarious how people are trying to compare Welbeck to one of the greatest strikers of the last 20 years....

Aye, because Henry was the best striker the league has ever seen a month after signing for Arsenal. Welbeck has 8 years to catch up.

Welbeck has been playing in England his whole career and is almost 24. I think it's safe to say he won't be reaching any sort of level Henry did

Welbeck has consistently scored whenever he's played up front. You're talking crystal balls here comparing a developed and proven striker to what's basically a player having a breakthrough season in his preferred position. It's a non-argument.

When Henry signed for Arse initially no one would've predicted what he'd become. No goal in 8 games, constantly questioned regarding physicality and basically pants for his first few months.

Rodgers on Balotelli: "He worked hard, (but) needs to do more. He will be judged on what he creates and what he scores and he didn't score."

Is that exasperation creeping in already?
