Do you seriously believe that a fully fit and on form Sturridge is better than a fully fit and on form Falcao?

You might as well ask that about Ronaldinho. RVP and Falcao are past it now, what they were like at their peak is irrelevant now. I'm talking two years worth of numbers here, it's not form.

Just to put Sturridge's numbers into context btw, they are the best numbers at this point of his career of ANY Liverpool player. Much better scoring rate than Rush, Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez etc

Ok well I guess Everton have the best striker (Eto'o) on Merseyside too. I didn't realise ability was based on names

Fair enough point, but what I'm trying to say is that we don't know if Falcao is passed it because he hasn't been fit for a year.

I eluded to it a couple of posts back that I think he probably is at the very top level, but to be fair to the bloke, you can't really judge him until he's been able to play a run of 20 or so games.

To be fair to Sturridge, he does seem to be able to come back from injury firing on the proverbial, but I reckon the consistent quality that Falcao has shown in the passed, means you have to wait to see what he can do when (if) he can stay fit, before completely writing him off.

Just jumping back to this. The only reason Liverpool's FB's are there is because United's are injured, except Rojo but he has a CB place.

Let's face it the real Johnson has been abducted and replaced with an alien who looks like him, Rafael is better and at LB, Shaw, Rojo and Blind would all get selected for that position ahead of Enrique.

As for the Gerrard argument, it is somewhat unfair - he doesn't find Balotelli and Lambert like he could find Sturridge and Suarez last season because the latter pair moved and found the space to receive the ball. Lambert and Balotelli are target men, there'll always be a CB in close attendance because they do not drift much from a central position. Balls to them are therefore going to have a much lower percentage success rate, hence Gerrard's stats look less impressive.

Wrapping up on injuries, the boss added: "Now I have only four players injured, so that’s better than ever I believe! Only Shaw, Smalling, Di Maria and Blind [are injured]."

Asked if Falcao could be involved on Sunday, he said: "Yes. He could make a return."

Asked if his players are aware of what beating Liverpool means to United in terms of the rivalry, van Gaal said he has the perfect assistant manager to get that message across: "I have an assistant manager in Ryan Giggs, and he presented an analysis of Liverpool and he did it in a marvellous way, so I’m very pleased."
