Matic went through Mané to get the ball and therefore fouled him.

Completely different?? Went through??

They were very similar and I think the refs position on the first one was key. As I said, I don't think either of them should have been a penalty.

Trying to get an accurate picture of reality, even when that's unpleasant or inconvenient!

One got the ball and the other got the man. Very different.

They both got the ball FFS!

Whether or not you agree with one, both, or neither of the decisions, to describe those two incidents as completely different is frankly, quite bizarre.

Matic touched his leg on the way to getting it, but as far as I'm aware, football is not yet a non contact sport (I think we might have discussed this recently!!)

I'm seriously struggling to see how you don't understand the difference.

Whether a tackle gets a ball or not is irrelevant if it has to go through the man to get it. I haven't seen an angle that shows Matic make contact with Sane yet tbf, lot of the angles I've seen have been quite poor

To be fair, Matic did touch Mane whilst getting the ball, but to describe it as going through him is extreme to the point of being daft. The ball was in open play and both players went for it. Matic got it. The same with Costa at the other end. It was a good tackle and the ball was won cleanly in my opinion.

If the tackler makes contact with the player then it's a poor tackle. If Costa was being clever he would've got something between Fonte and the ball to force contact and the peno.

Lukaku scores a pen for Everton to make it 2-0. Why is Baines not taking penalties anymore
