Agree with most of that!

It wasn't a red card.

It clearly was a penalty, as was Cavani on Costa in the first half.

Our exit is entirely our own fault.

There you go, 2 out of 3 I agree!

I would also add that although Victor was on some kind of bizarre rant last night after the game, I did agree with him on one point. Souness was way over the top in his criticism of Chelsea last night. Not of the performance in general, but the way he went about accusing us of dastardly things, as if he's never seen them before!

Were we employing 'gamesmanship'? Yep absolutely. Was pressure put on the officials, yep absolutely.

In other words, we were doing what every other team does in every other game that's ever played. Are we really all of a sudden aghast at players who go down when they could have stayed on their feet, or players who try to influence a ref's decision? Are we really suggesting that that is not an unfortunate, but very common occurrence in every match?

Come on guys! By all means dance all over an abject performance and deserved exit from the competition, but let's not pretend that Chelsea's 'antics' were any worse than you see every week in the PL.

Any you know I'll point it out when it happens too! :thumb:

i didnt think he touched it, but he was stupid to have his hand that high

the foul by cavani was a definite pen :thumb:

i understand victor wanting english clubs to do well in europe, because if the prem loses a 4th cl spot, it is most likely arsenal that will lose out

I think the look on his face told the story! He knew he'd made a mistake.

the gamesmanship was truly disgusting

imho, stemming from the manager

chelsea should be brought to task by uefa for surrounding the ref like that

of course it was worse than what happens every week, i think almost every player ran up to the ref when oscar was fouled ffs.

You can't use still photo's to prove (or disprove) a point like this.

In this photo, Ibra has already gone through Oscar; in other words, the foul that got him sent off has already occurred. As I've said, I don't believe that he should have been red carded and yes, Oscar went in in a very similar manner. However, this photo does not prove one way or another that a mistake was made.

I know that I've made regular (tongue in cheek) references to the Matic/Barnes incident, but if I posted a still photo of Barnes' studs half way up Matic's leg, does that prove that Barnes' 'tackle' was a leg breaker and therefore worthy of a lifelong ban? Of course it doesn't.

A clear leg breaking foul, right? The photo is a bit blurred, but abundantly clear, right??

Not twisted mate, just continuing my campaign to try and stop people using still photo's as 'evidence'. :thumb:

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville claims English football is “on the ropes” after Chelsea’s exit from the Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

Jose Mourinho’s side crashed out at the last-16 stage after Thiago Silva’s extra-time header earned the French side a 2-2 draw, going through on away goals after a 3-3 aggregate scoreline.

PSG played three-quarters of the game with 10 men after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s sending off, and the events at Stamford Bridge are another “embarrassment” for the English game, according to Neville.

He told the Sky Sports Champions League Podcast: “It’s a shocker for English football, for the Premier League. I have to say our best-equipped team has gone out to not a particularly special team, but PSG deserved it.

“English football has had moments to reflect in the last two few years. Chelsea are obviously nowhere near as good as we thought they could be.

“We are miles away. It’s in the defending aspect, and the urgency to defend. There are aspects of possession we could improve on, but we are nowhere near good enough defensively.

“We are not preparing our teams, and they are not preparing each other for the big matches in the Champions League, where other teams have more energy, more urgency and better appetite.

“It’s incredible. We’re going to have to have a good long look at ourselves.

“And I have to say we’re getting embarrassed year in, year out at the moment. It is shocking, really shocking, and until we get an intensity in our game that befits top-level football, it is not going to happen. We are way off, absolutely way off.”

Chelsea lead the Premier League by five points having played a game less than nearest challengers Manchester City, but Neville insists recent months have been a reality check for English football.

I like Gary Neville, I think he's by far the best pundit and co comm on British TV and I agree with nearly everything he says regarding football, but I'm not sure I agree with this.

Last year, England's third best team reached the CL SF. So far this year, it's been pretty disastrous for English teams, but I don't believe that we are being left behind. Before last night, Chelsea were being discussed as potential winners of the competition, but this morning, English football is fecked!

Apart from Victor, does anyone else agree with GNev?
