Jesus Christ that midfield is appalling  Funny how Hodgson picks people on 'form' yet picks Jones

England manager Roy Hodgson has included Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli and Liverpool striker Danny Ings in his squad for the first time for the forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers with Estonia and Lithuania.

Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Stoke City), Joe Hart (Manchester City), Tom Heaton (Burnley).

Defenders: Ryan Bertrand (Southampton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Nathaniel Clyne (Liverpool), Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Chris Smalling (Manchester United), John Stones (Everton).

Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Ross Barkley (Everton), Michael Carrick (Manchester United), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), James Milner (Liverpool), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Jonjo Shelvey (Swansea City), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City).

Forwards: Danny Ings (Liverpool), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Jamie Vardy (Leicester City), Theo Walcott (Arsenal).

Think I'd go with

Hart
Clyne Smalling Jagielka Bertrand
Alli Carrick
Ox Rooney Sterling
Kane/Vardy

Ings and Alli, showing what a move to a top 6 team can do.

Alli has been one of the best signings this season. Hardly going to pick him at MK Dons.

Never understood the picking on form thing tbh. After every tournament there's outcry over no set style of play etc. The fans want England to play like Spain but they want the likes of Vardy or Colbeck called up when they are in form.

You can't have both. Decide on your style and pick the players to fit it.

It should be a 4 year cycle per squad. Spend the Euro's figuring out what players fit the system, or vice versa, then spend the WC cementing everything.

Far too many England squads are caught up with flavour of the month players. People were calling for Callum Wilson to get a cap ffs.

There's always a Heskey, Carroll, Crouch type as well. Don't spend 4 years giving out about playing long ball football, then take a useless lump to the WC

Who else would've you included in the squad then instead of the 'form' players like Vardy and Alli?

Not having a go at the lad or Spurs but is Ali a form player really? He's started like 3 PL games. Top international squads should be hard to get into, not just for lads to get parachuted into because they are at top teams.

He's also played a couple EL/Cup games

It may be a bit knee jerk because he's played so well, probably our 2nd best player along with Son this season behind Dier, but the lad really has been great, when you look at the midfield there, it's not exactly a tough one to try and break into

Lets be honest, he's only there because Jack Grealish is ineligible.

Alli > Grealish.

Different positions anyway, lol.
